Retail Sales Representative

 Job Summary
DPI Specialty Foods - Midwest, a market leader in the food distribution industry, is seeking an experienced Retail Sales Representative for the Chicagoland region. The main responsibilities of this position include the selling and servicing specialty dry grocery, frozen and perishable products to retail grocery chains, independent stores, restaurants, or other institutions. This position is a commissioned sales position, however, a base may be offered to start with the expectation to be on full commission within a specified time frame.

 Requirements
  • HS/GED with four years of knowledge and sales experience of the retail food distribution industry.
  • Strong initiative, interpersonal, communication, organizational and presentation skills required along with the ability to aggressively obtain new business as well as maintain and develop existing accounts.
  • Product knowledge preferred and PC skills a must.
  • Must have current driver’s license, good driving record, and automobile insurance.
Essential duties and responbilities include the following
  • Visit stores once or twice weekly to service stores including selling promotions, shippers, and new items. Keep current information regarding holiday items, new products, saleable features, and the demographics of the Sales Rep.’s assigned territory.
  • Gather and transmit orders and credits via electronic unit.
  • Pack-out orders/position on shelves after receipt at customer facility (if required level of service).
  • Verify proper display of shelf tags, sale signs, pricing, and new labels.
  • Straighten and rotate existing items, dust items when needed, and cut-in new items.
  • Check shelves and backrooms for overstock, proper product rotation, and dates.
  • Stock and merchandize shelves and complete reset programs for required customers.
  • Inform customers of new items, promotion, distributions, demos, new programs, pricing, guarantee status and saleable features.
  • Field problems, concerns, and complaints from customers resolving customer-related service.
  • Open and service new accounts.
  • Communicate information received at store level regarding mis-picks, mis-selects, unauthorized items, manufacturer defects, product rotation to Customer Service, brokers and area managers
